Delta9 Scientific is an analytical quality control (QC) laboratory located in Virginia, offering competitively priced potency testing, terpene profiling, and residual solvent testing. At only $50, we offer the lowest cost potency test on the market, with no trade offs in quality or turnaround, working with materials ranging from flower and extracts, to edibles, salves, and even vape cartridges. We also help hemp growers test for USDA compliance, as well as helping optimise quality and production of grow. Due to our extensive state and federal (DEA) licensure, we are also able to perform specialized contract research studies that other labs cannot.
QC testing isn't just about regulatory compliance. You need the most accurate testing from an independent laboratory to make rapid, informed decisions for your business as a hemp grower, processor, or manufacturer of consumer products. Delta9 Scientific is staffed by highly qualified and proficient scientists working with the best equipment in a state-of-the-art laboratory. We are committed to being the best and providing the highest quality laboratory testing services; Delta9 Scientific was the first analytical laboratory in Virginia to earn Schedule 1 DEA licenses for research and analysis of hemp and cannabis products, and we are currently pursuing ISO-17025 certification as part of our effort to provide the highest quality services to our customers. We look forward to providing you with accurate results and rapid turnaround.

New regulatory guidance from VDACS on hemp-derived product testing standards in Virginia
July 25, 2019
The Northam Administration has directed VDACS to treat hemp-derived extracts intended for human consumption as approved food additives and to place qualifying Registered Industrial Hemp Processors under food safety inspection so that inspected and approved processors may manufacture a hemp-derived extract intended for human consumption. Details of the safety testing and inspection process are discussed in VDACS's Food Safety Program's letter dated July 25, 2019. Under these new guidelines, there are now specific standards for purity testing (CBD and THC content), and testing for harmful contaminants such as pesticides, heavy metals, and mycotoxins. If your intended hemp-derived product is not an extract but is intended for human consumption, please contact VDACS's Food Safety Program for additional information.
Why QC of hemp-derived products intended for human consumption is so important
May 15, 2019
Because hemp farming was just legalized in the US in late 2018 and many states are still scrambling to define the standards for contaminant and purity testing, buying products containing CBD right now is like playing Russian roulette. Not only do some brands contain little to no CBD at all, but some contain high levels of toxic contaminants that can seriously impact human health, especially in vulnerable populations such as people with suppressed immune systems and neurological problems.
One lab in Colorado tested the top-selling 240 products for 300 contaminants and for truth in labeling. After thousands of tests, 70 percent of products were found "highly contaminated" with heavy metals like lead and arsenic, herbicides like glyphosate (the active ingredient in RoundUp) and a host of other contaminants including pesticides, BPA and toxic mold. Also, 50% of the products tested did not contain the amount of CBD claimed on the label.
This is why QC testing by qualified independent labs like Delta9 Scientific is so important. We are doing our part to protect public health.
